House & Location description: Two bedroom 1.5 bath beachfront condo that is part of a quiet 8 unit complex on the Dana Point headlands. Full whitewater views from the unit and the beach access trail leading to at some of Orange Couty's best surf at Strands/Salt Creek is three doors away. Mellow beginner waves are five minutes to the south at Doheny State Park, and we're just ten minutes drive from Trestles/San Onofre. There's also excellent paddleboarding, kayaking and fishing out of Dana Harbor. This area is ground zero for the US surf industry and there are lot of surf shops and top shapers in the area. Also many surf comps, paddleboards races, and specialty events year-round. Out of respect for the other owners we have a maximum occupancy of four. Blackout dates for swap are July/August.
Beaches in the area: Salt Creek/Strands are great waves year-round and longboard/beginner waves are found at Doheny. In ten minutes you can be at many fine surf spots in San Clemente, and if it's solitude you can always get a peak to yourself at Trails at San Onofre State Park. Laguna Beach is ten minutes north and there's lots of fine surf on the right day, and a half hour north is Huntington Beach that takes all swells. I'm not listing as a snow rental but Bear Mountain is a two hour drive - you really can surf and snowboard/ski in the same day here.

Owner profile: Former long-time lifeguard working as a manager in the telecom industry for the last 15 years. Still an avid surfer/paddler. Married with a boy and girl (9 and 11 yrs old in 2009). We speak some Spanish but the childern are fluent. I've lived on the East and West coast of the US and Australia as well as Europe, North Africa, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Other surf trips include the Azores, several visits to Fiji and New Zealand (North Island), and a few weeks in Peru. We're very respectful of others property and live by the code of always returning things in better condition that when they were loaned to you.

Preferred swap locations: Would consider trading for any similar interesting ocean or waterfront properties anywhere in the world. A week to ten days in Nova Scotia in the late summer/early fall have always been on my list of places to visit. Possible trade for a mountain, lake/river/ocean front property anywhere from Ensenada to Morro Bay and beyond (long weekends perhaps).
